Because of the nature of running this small business all by myself, I have run into various situations that cuase questions. Please message me if these topics don't answer your question.
1. Where can I find these cute little creatures? At this time Carrie only sells her pottery at festivals and in her home studio/gallery by appointment.
2. Do you ship? Sorry, we do not ship
3. Do you take custom orders? Sorry, we do not take custom orders
4. Do you take suggestions? Of course. I love hearing from my customers about ideas that pop into your head. Sometimes your ideas get used, sometimes they can spur other ideas.
5. How can I come and shop? If you'd like to visit my studio / gallery I'd love to have you! Just send me an email letting me know when you'd like to visit and we can set up a time for you to come. [email protected]
6. What's the best way to stay updated on what you're making, where to find you and when your raku events are up for registration? FACEBOOK! Althouse Pottery on Facebook is my main means of communicaiton. I do not have an email list and I'm rarely on Instagram. I do enjoy interracting with customers on facebook so feel free to leave pottery comments there. You will find all the info about my upcoming festivals and raku events there as well.
7. Where do you get your inspiration? I've always loved the outdoors. Everything about it. If you were to go on a hike with me, you'd probably get a kick out of my love of all the colors, shapes, textures, smells, and feels. I love getting my hands dirty and making something out of nothing. My imaginative creatures come from a culmination of various childrens books that I loved reading as a kid and reading to my 2 girls. They also go with my outdoors theme so really it was a no brainer. My silly creativity stems from my love of laughter and from being an art teacher for 9 years to a lot of silly and creative middle school and high school students.
8. Why do you want to stay small? There are 3 main reasons: 1. I made a pact with myself years ago to only make pottery that are works of art. I didn't want to carry around pounds and pounds of pottery that doesn't mean anything to anyone. I want what I make to have a impact on someone elses life. I want them to love it so much that they may even pass it down through the generations for others to love. Because of this, I take lots of time in the details. 2. My goal in life is to be Mom first! Being a mom takes priority over my business every day of the year. 3. Quality! Growing too big means hiring employees which means pieces are no longer made solely by me, the potter.
